My name is Kev Parr and I have been bitten by the travel bug! In the summer of 2020 I was furloughed from my job as an engineer, everywhere was in the grip of the covid pandemic. With plenty time on my hands I would go for long walks and it was on one of these walks that I decided to quit my job. When the furlough ended I was going to stay home, be a house husband and whenever my wife Tracy was off work, we would travel.
The plan was using websites and apps like Skyscanner, Kayak, Google Flights, and Momondo to book cheap flights to the out of the way airports favoured by the low cost airlines we would explore Europe. We have been regular travelers for the past fifteen years and have visited a few countries, the list is actually pretty long and we have had quite a few adventures along the way, we swam with wild pink dolphins in the Rio Negro in the Brazilian rain forest, shared a cable car with a General in the Iraq army up to the snow covered peak of Korek mountain in the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan, Iraq. We have met some interesting people along the way, from a Buddhist monk who tattooed my back in a temple just outside Bangkok to a Saxon Monier called Dave who I had a very long and interesting conversation with in a castle in Northumberland.
For years friends and family have been telling me I should blog and vlog our travels and was always so busy with work and traveling I could never really find the time but these days I have a lot more time on my hands, so here it is. The rest of our journey around this beautiful world.
To be continued….
Oh yeah, why rufl.co.uk? I needed a domain name for this blog, rufl.co.uk was free, easy to remember {RUFFLE} and at 10 characters long it’s the same as google.com!
